การป้องกันสนิมเหล็ก
การเกิดสนิมของเหล็กนั้น เป็นปฏิกิริยาทางเคมี-ไฟฟ้า ซึ่งเกิดจากการที่เหล็กเมื่อได้รับน้ำและอ๊อกซิเจน จะเกิดการสูญเสียอิเล็คตรอน ให้แก่น้ำและอ๊อกซิเจน จากนั้นเกิดการเปลี่ยนแปลงโครงสร้างของโมเลกุลของเหล็กเกิดเป็นเหล็กอ๊อกไซด์ ซึ่งก็คือ สนิมเหล็กนั้นเอง
แนวทางในการป้องกันการเกิดสนิมเหล็กสามารถทำได้ 2 วิธี คือ
- ป้องกันไม่ให้น้ำและอ๊อกซิเจนสัมผัสกับเหล็ก (Passive Protection)
- ป้องกันโดยการชดเชยการสูญเสียอิเล็คตรอนแทนเหล็ก (Active Protection)
ผลิตภัณฑ์ Zinc Tape เป็นผลิตภัณฑ์ที่ใช้วิธีการป้องกันการเกิดสนิมเหล็กแบบ Cathodic Protection ซึ่งสามารถป้องกันสนิมเหล็กทั้งแบบ Passive และ Active Protection เนื่องจากผลิตภัณฑ์ Zinc Tape นี้หลังจากติดตั้งบนผิวเหล็กแล้วจะสามารถป้องกันไม่ให้น้ำ และอ๊อกซิเจน ซึมผ่านไปได้ และ Zinc Tape เป็นโลหะที่สามารถสูญเสียอิเล็คตรอนได้ง่ายกว่าเหล็ก โดยการส่งถ่ายอิเล็คตรอนของ Zinc Tape ไปสู่เหล็กผ่านทางชั้นกาวที่มีอณูของ Zinc อยู่ จึงทำให้เหล็กไม่เกิดสนิม
การติดตั้ง Zinc Tape สามารถทำได้ง่ายเหมือนกับการติด Sticker จึงเหมาะสำหรับใช้งานกับโครงสร้างได้ในหลายรูปแบบ เช่น ท่อเหล็กในระบบ Cooling Tower, โครงสร้างเหล็กต่างๆ, ห้อง AHU, ระบบท่อต่างๆในโรงงานอุตสาหกรรม, อุตสาหกรรมปิโตรเคมี, โรงกลั่นน้ำมัน รวมถึงอุตสาหกรรมผลิตรถยนต์ และตู้คอนเทนเนอร์ เป็นต้น
Corrosion Protection
Rust is caused by an electrochemical reaction when steel comes in contact with water and oxygen whereby electron is taken by water and oxygen, causing changes in the structure of the iron molecule as iron oxide which in fact is rust.
Protection against rust can be carried out by the following 2 methods:
- Passive Protection, by not letting water and oxygen come into contact with the iron
- Active Protection, by replacing the loss of electron instead of iron
Zinc Tape is a rust-prevention product used as Cathodic Protection which gives both passive and active protections. After affixing Zinc Tape on the steel, this will prevent water and oxygen from seeping through, and Zinc Tape is a metal which can lose electron more easily than steel by transferring electron of Zinc Tape to the steel through the adhesive which has a molecule of Zinc so that the steel will not get rusty.
Installation of Zinc Tape can be carried out as easily as affixing a sticker; therefore, it is suitable for use in many forms of structure, such as iron pipes in a cooling tower system, various steel structures, AHU rooms, various pipe systems in industry, petrochemical industry, refinery, as well as automobile industry and containers.
